A few words about me
I’m Jozef, a software developer with 10+ years of experience, focusing mostly on backend and web applications.
Most of my day happens in Node.js and TypeScript, with Postgres and AWS somewhere nearby. Over the years, Go went from “language I’m curious about” to the thing I reach for whenever I build my own tools — like novus, a local HTTPS proxy, or a USB macro button running TinyGo on a Raspberry Pi Pico. In the past I also worked with PHP, jQuery, and a little bit of Python — we don’t talk about the XSLT era 😅.
What started as “getting interested in IoT” a few years back has quietly turned into a desk full of projects: a HomeKit thermostat on an ESP32, a clock with an old-school VFD display, and a 27" iMac that I gutted and turned into an external monitor. I prefer cheap DIY solutions over expensive products — half the fun is that there’s always something new to learn along the way.
When writing code, I think several steps ahead and try to predict the issues that could bite later. I’m a minimalist with an eye for detail, always curious about how things work under the hood — one day I’d still love to take a proper look at Linux internals 🤓.
I’m not afraid to start things I know nothing about. Learning by doing is my way to go — figure it out while building it, write it down on this blog afterwards.
When I’m not coding or tinkering, I’m usually exploring new countries 🌎 or riding my motorcycle 🏍 — sometimes both at once, like the time I rode all the way up to Nordkapp. If you want to talk about backend systems, DIY hardware, or the best way to route cables behind a desk, you can find me on GitHub or LinkedIn — or just write me at hello@jozefcipa.com.
